FIRST MEETING OF THE DISASTER MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE DISCUSSES THE CURRENT DEVELOPMENT OF COVID-19

meeting onlineºÚÁϳԹÏÍø ONLINE: Following the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic that has hit the world as well as the people of the nation, ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø has set up the University Disaster Management Committee.

In this regard, the first meeting of the committee was held through the WEBEX application and was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani.

At the meeting, committee members discussed the latest development with regard to the directives from the National Security Council (MKN) and the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) as well as government directives on civil servants working from home following the Movement Control (CPP) Order which came into effect since 18 March.

In addition, discussion also evolved around the COVID-19 health report presented by the University Health Centre (PKU). Also included in the discussion were the disinfection guidelines carried out at government departments and the MCO monitoring activities done at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.

Other agendas included reports on student affairs such as the current status of student accommodation and food aid, while academic matters comprised  preparation for teaching and teaching (PdP) and ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøIT technical reports.

Also presented at the meeting conducted via teleconferencing were the reports from the Bursary, the Department of Development and Maintenance (JPP) and ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Corporate Comm.

During the meeting, Kedah Menteri Besar, Dato' Seri Mukhriz Tun Mahathir who also participated in the teleconferencing said that ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø was well prepared and in control throughout the duration of the MCO he said this when he was present to hand over contributions and assistance to the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Food Bank.

The two-hour meeting was attended by members of the University Management Committee, Deputy Registrar, Director of the Chancellery, Director of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøIT, Director of the University Health Centre, Dean of the Student Affairs, Principals of Student Residential Halls, Officers of the Security Department and senior university officials.
