ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø ONLINE: The Vice-Chancellor of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø (ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø), Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani believes that the School of Law (SoL) will remain competitive in order to ensure the sustainability of legal professional programmes and their expansion to all corners of the world.

This belief was expressed at the Closing Ceremony of the 10th Anniversary of the Establishment of the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø School of Law and the Launch of the First Edition of the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Law Review, under the supervisory of the Law Students Association (LAWSOC), SoL which was held online.

According to him, in the ten years since its inception, SoL has succeeded in creating exceptional graduates not only in theory but also in practise, as evidenced by the alumni's ability to put all of the knowledge learned to good use in serving the people and the nation.

“SoL provides two highly regarded law programmes, the Bachelor of Law (LLB) and the Bachelor of Philosophy, Law and Business (BPLB), both of which are considered milestones in the generation of graduates.

“At the Master level, SoL offers a variety of programmes. The study site for Master level programmes is not only restricted to the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Sintok campus, the programmes are also offered at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøKL to provide a larger locality," he stated.

The Vice-Chancellor also praised the alumni of the School of Law, who are always willing to assist their alma mater and mentor their juniors who are still studying law and need guidance from their own legal professionals.

Apart from being a place to provide knowledge, SoL also provides free legal services to the community out there, especially from the local community around ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø through the Legal Aid Centre or also known as PBG. The PBG has been in operation since 2009 and continues to provide legal services and assistance to people in need.

Aside from PBG, the school also includes a research centre, the Legal Justice Research Centre (LJRC), which allows SoL lecturers to cooperate with external scholars, provide advisory services, and participate in community projects.

In the ceremony, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Bashawir also launched the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Law Review publication which is under the supervisory of students the Bachelor of Law programme.

“The main purpose of the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Law Review is to develop and demonstrate the ability of students in terms of writing, research, and analytical skills.

“This publication will be a platform for students to express their opinions through writing, a way to do analysis, and in one fell swoop produce articles, particularly based on law," he said.

He expressed optimism that the students' efforts will bring honour to SoL and ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, and voiced the hope that the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Law Review will be a reliable piece of publication that is consistent with the quality of work that will be produced in the future.

The SoL celebration began on 1 July with a variety of activities to commemorate the school's tenth anniversary. Short video competitions, poster competition, essay-writing competitions, Appreciation Awards, Spiritual Talks, Mediation Forum Webinars, Webinars by LLB and BPLB Student Associations, and lectures by SoL Adjunct Professors, Tan Sri Dato' Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof and Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Richard Malanjum were among the programmes and activities planned throughout the celebration.
