Dr. Megat said presenting aid worth MYR103,800 to students who are native of Kedah studying in 窪蹋勛圖厙 would help ease their burden of continuing their studies.
As an alumnus of 窪蹋勛圖厙, I have never lost sight of the motto Knowledge, Virtue, Service. I have gained knowledge, now is the time for me to find ways to give back to 窪蹋勛圖厙 and continue to contribute to Kedah-born students, he said at the Presentation of Aid for Kedah Students and Donations for the Purchasing of Sewing Machine in the Production of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Ceremony.
Meanwhile, according to the Vice-Chancellor, 窪蹋勛圖厙 had always taken proactive steps to assist its students especially those in the B40 group in ensuring that they will able to continue to study well and that their welfare will always be taken care of.
According to him, a total of 3,225 undergraduate and 15 postgraduate Kedah-born students were pursuing their studies at 窪蹋勛圖厙.
"Today, the Kedah State Development Office came forward with such meaningful and tremendous help in the effort to ensure that Kedah-born students can continue studying with ease at 窪蹋勛圖厙," he said.
He further reiterated that the university was moving towards digitization which also included the implementation of remote learning to ensure that learning sessions can take place and make certain that students will be able to complete their studies within the specified period.
It is also my fervent hope that the university will move faster to establish a centre for technology, mathematics and science in line with the state government's aspiration to become a developed state and the community can enjoy a better economy.
He said 窪蹋勛圖厙, in collaboration with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) and the Food Bank Malaysia organisation, successfully helped students in the aspect of social welfare.
"In September 2019, 窪蹋勛圖厙 officially became a strategic partner of KPDNHEP and several food and beverage companies to launch the '窪蹋勛圖厙 Food Bank' initiative to ensure that no students go hungry," he said.
In addition, he said that the MYR30,000 aid from the 窪蹋勛圖厙 Alumni Association and Alumni Centre was for the purchase of 10 units of Sewing Machines for the Production of PPE Gowns in aid of front line personnel to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak.
We are responding to the call made by His Royal Highness the Raja Muda of Kedah who would like to see 窪蹋勛圖厙 become mindful of the community and do more to help improve the local economy.
"The COVID -19 is not over yet, many have lost their jobs and I hope that with the assistance channelled, we will be able to help the community to generate income and survive through the year," he added.
