ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Set To Become A Cashless Campus

ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø SET TO BECOME A CASHLESS CAMPUS

ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø is headed for a cashless campus with the implementation of "ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Cashless Community" officially launched by the Kedah State Exco Member, Mr. Mohd Asmirul Anuar Aris at Varsity Mall recently.

According to him, the initiative for the cashless transaction programme was indeed a welcoming sight as it would help to reduce corrupt practices and prepare the society, especially the younger generation to face the challenges of the industrial revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0) as they come face to face with the working world and the need to constantly following the current trend of modern financial transaction system.

He further reiterated that, smartphones and applications were essential tools in everyday life, as appropriate platforms and phone apps were used in the face of technological revolution and financial transactions.

"Through e-wallet, I am confident of educating mobile phones users not only more prudent but also responsible for every penny spent.

"Today, online purchases in the community are showing an increase by the year, so efforts to create a cashless society in ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø indeed corresponds with the government's efforts," he said.

Meanwhile, ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani welcomed the effort as it would make users matured in the future through cashless payment system.

According to him, the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Cashless Community Programme which began on 9 September 2018 in ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø was implemented in three phases involving all cafeteria premises, all business premises (non-food) and the third phase involving services within the campus.

"Hence, ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø has always worked with entrepreneurs and kiplePay as the vendor responsible for the realization of cashless transactions within the campus as a whole.

"Several programmes with Head of Department, business and student entrepreneurs were held by the University through the Strategic and Business Development (BSD) Department as the secretariat," he said.

He said, in enhancing human resource efficiency, time management and financial resources, the University distributed zakat to students through kiplePay from December 2018 to February 2019 involving 887 students within five working days compared to 14 days.

"This effort will also make ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø the first public university in Malaysia to distribute zakat to students through the ‘e-wallet’ app apart from targeting various services such as 'Food Bank' to students in need," he added.

At the event, a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and kiplePay Sdn. Bhd. (kiplePay), a subsidiary of Green Packet Berhad was signed to officially open the first integrated cashless campus at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, Sintok.

ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø was represented by ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Vice-Chancellor and kiplePay by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Tan Kay Yen, present to witness the historic event were Mr. Asmirul and Chairman of the National Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), Mr. Wan Saiful Wan Jan.
